The aim of this paper is to elucidate the close structural and problem-historical affinity between Kant and Popper. It can be shown that Popper—whether consciously or unconsciously—argues within a Kantian horizon and moves within the ‘Kantian intellectual climate’ he himself invoked. Moreover, it becomes evident that his productive misunderstandings of Kant played a decisive role in shaping the architecture of his critical rationalism.
